You make a difference every day!

We look after around 300 children and young people every year and we rely on our band of foster carers in East Lothian in helping to keep children and young people from East Lothian close to home.

Sharon Saunders, Head of Children and Adult Services with East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership says:

‘I want to make sure that everyone knows how much we all value what our East Lothian foster carers do. They make an enormous contribution, not just to the lives of the children that they foster, but also to the children’s wider families and our communities. Keeping children close to the people that matter to them is really important. Still being able to see your friends at school each day, being taught by teachers that know you well in the school you have been in since Primary 1 can really help a child through difficult times. And that’s what our Foster East Lothian foster carers do – help children and young people through some very difficult times and show them that life can be good, in fact, very good.

‘So, I would just like to take advantage of Foster Carer Fortnight to say, “Thank you. You are doing something fantastic. You make a difference every day”.’

If you would like to join the Foster East Lothian Team, our next intake of foster carers is September 2017. To sign up or just to have a chat, phone us now on 01620 827 643 or email us at fostering@eastlothian.gov.uk
