Law Primary School pupils compete

Pupils at North Berwick’s Law Primary School are celebrating two major sporting achievements this month.

Poppy Cunningham, a primary 6 pupil, was recently awarded the National Grade 4 Scottish Champion in Gymnastics at Bells Arena in Perth, taking home gold medals for overall performance and for range and conditioning. She was also placed 1st on the floor, 2nd on the beam and vault and 4th on the bars. Her success means that she will represent Scotland at the British Grade finals which will be held in Stoke on Trent in May.

Also last month, 17 pupils competed in the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships held in Kirkcaldy. Angus Wright came first in the P7 boys’ race, and other racers and teams were placed highly.

Jill Wareham, Head Teacher at Law Primary School, said:

“I want to congratulate all the pupils for their hard work and sporting success this month. It’s fantastic news that Poppy will be representing Scotland at the British Grade Finals and we look forward to hearing how she gets on. The runners at the Cross Country Championships also did really well, especially considering that most of them had no experience in running really big races such as this. All the children who took part should be really proud of themselves. They were all a credit to the school, trying their best and supporting each other as a team.”
