Pinkie St Peter’s celebrated the grand opening of their new school extension this week with a special ribbon cutting ceremony.

The pupils also enjoyed special themed cupcakes, decorated in the school colours, group songtime, and performances from Glasgow rock band Altered Sky.

The pupils moved into the £4 million extension in August 2016, and the ceremony marked the completion of the most recent phases of the expansion/upgrade, including the classroom extension, expanded dining hall, new school entrance and refurbishment of the hall. The overall value of the expansion project is circa £7million, including enabling works carried out in 2013-2014 and the proposed nursery extension, which is currently being planned with ELC Education.

Eddie Reid, Team Manager – Design and Programme Management, from East Lothian Council marked the official opening of the new extension by cutting a massive red ribbon.

Sarah Ogden, Head Teacher at Pinkie St Peter’s Primary School, said:

“We were delighted to welcome along Eddie Reid and Mark Nelson, Technical Projects Officer, to do the honours of officially opening our wonderful new extension. The whole school community had a fantastic morning coming together to celebrate this new extension, which is bright and airy and offers a fantastic modern learning environment for the pupils. Special thanks must go to Altered Sky who performed a number of songs for us this morning.”
