Visitors to Prestongrange can have their say on possible future develpoments

Visitors are invited to get creative this autumn at Prestongrange Museum to help shape the future of one of the oldest industrial sites in Scotland.

Using old bricks to create steam punk tee shirt prints and playing with the creative building computer game ‘Minecraft’ will be just two of the activities on offer at an exciting consultation event ‘Re-Imagining Prestongrange’ at the museum on 21st October between 12 noon and 4pm. We want to explore the future of the museum with you, our visitors and communities, to explore how the museum site might develop in the future.

It will be a great day for families, with stained glass crafts and a treasure hunt, plus activities to interest a wider age range with an industrial archaeology beach walk, free guided tours and tee shirt printing using ‘found objects’. The café will be open serving drinks and snacks with a free tea, coffee or juice for anyone who comes along!

This will be an exciting chance for the museum’s many loyal visitors to spend a day at the museum and hear more about the buildings surveys and research which are also underway as part of the current project to explore ideas for the future of the museum.

Asking the local community how Prestongrange might be ‘re-imagined’ is central to the development process, and consultation was launched last month.  An online survey will shortly go live and run until Christmas, and East Lothian Council are keen that as many people as possible come forward with ideas for improvements, uses and activities.
