School Road Sign

If you child is in Primary 7, now is the time to think about his or her transfer to secondary school in August 2018.

Transferring to your catchment secondary school
If you have a child in P7 that attends an East Lothian Council primary school, you will have received a letter regarding your child’s transfer to secondary school. If you have not received this information by Friday 1 December, please contact the Education Business Unit on 01620 827 599/587 or email schoolplacements@eastlothian.gov.uk

Choosing a non-catchment secondary school
Although most young people will attend their catchment secondary school, parents may make an application for any other school under the management of East Lothian Council. Such a request is known as a non-catchment placing request. The closing date for non-catchment placing requests is Sunday 24 December 2017. Any requests received after this date will still be considered but an early application is advisable.

Parents of children who do not attend an East Lothian Council primary school but who are resident in East Lothian and wish their child to attend their catchment secondary school should contact the Education Business Unit for more information.

Parents of children who do not attend an East Lothian Council primary school and who live out with East Lothian and wish their child to be enrolled in their catchment secondary school should complete a non-catchment placing request form.

If you would like more information about a particular school, please contact the school direct.
