Housing Assistance in East Lothian

East Lothian Council takes a leading role in providing and planning for housing.

As well as letting out council housing we offer advice about finding a private or housing association house to rent, or a private house to buy.

If you already have a home, the Council can advise you about benefits, disability adaptations, antisocial behaviour, tenant participation and much more.

Affordable Housing

The Council has produced a strategy to support new housing development and increase the supply of affordable housing locally.

Repairs and Maintenance

Help towards keeping houses in good shape, whether privately or publicly owned, is offered in the Repairs, Maintenance and Improvements section.

Homelessness

Homelessness remains a significant problem and the Council can advise you how to avoid it - and deal with it, should it happen.
