The Medieval Church

From the 12th century many parish churches were established, but relatively few examples survive in their original form.  East Lothian, however, has some fine examples of churches from the medieval period.  

There were, however, many other elements, which together made up the 'holy landscape', including monasteries, monastic granges, holy wells, and springs.
