Archaeology and young people
The East Lothian Young Archaeology Club meets ten times a year (usually once a month with a short break over the summer holidays) and is a branch of the national network of YAC's co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology and, in Scotland, by Archaeology Scotland.
The East Lothian branch was launched in May 2005 and provides children between the ages of 8 and 16 with opportunities to learn more about archaeology and heritage in an informal setting.
The activities are designed to be both educational and fun. There are around 20 members, but the club are always happy to welcome new members into the Branch.
As well as being a member of your local YAC branch, the club also suggests that you become a member of the National Young Archaeologists' Club. For more information go to the Young Archaeologists' Club national website. As a member you will receive the Young Archaeologist magazine, discounted entry to museums and visitor centres, and information on the club's activities.
