Book Week Scotland at East Lothian Libraries 18th-24th November 2019
Book Week Scotland is an annual celebration of books and reading delivered by Scottish Book Trust in partnership with local libraries and other organisations. People of all ages and walks of life come together to share and enjoy books and reading with Scotland's authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators. Once again East Lothian Library Service is offering a packed programme of events for you to enjoy. Look out for our special Local Blether events featuring some of our local authors.
Please see our programme for information on our Book Week Scotland events.

An addition to the programme is an event at Longniddry library. Author Charlie Fletcher will be coming to Longniddry library on 20th November. He is a local childrens' author whose first books, The Stoneheart Trilogy have been a massive international hit. P7's from Longniddry Primary have been invited along for the event. Home schooled children are welcome to attend. Email [email protected].
Isla Aitken will be at North Berwick library on Wednesday 20th November at 11am. She will be talking aobut her book, Making Pearls from Grit, which details her journey with cancer. No need to book, just come along.
One of the events being held this year is the Wilderland Film Festival. This is the UK's first ever touring wildlife film festival, showing important, breathtaking and thought provoking films from the natural world. Please see the trailer below. More information is available in the Book Week Scotland Programme or via The Brunton Theatre website.
Digital Book Group
To celebrate Book Week Scotland's blether events, East Lothian Libraries will be holding a digital book group. An eBook will be available from 14 November 2019 to 12 January 2020 via Borrowbox for everyone to borrow, read and debate. If you have not used Borrowbox before please see our eAudiobooks and eBooks page.
We will have a pinned post on Facebook so after you have read the book you can note your thoughts and enter into discussions with others about the book. There will be prizes each week for a post picked at random.
The title we have chosed for our Digital Book Group is The Way of All Flesh by Ambrose Parry. This title is available simultaneously, so multiple borrowers can borrow and read this at the same time. So get reading and blethering with friends, family, your book group, on the bus, at the shops...
