Examination of Local Development Plan

The Examination in Public of the Proposed East Lothian Local Development Plan (LDP) was administered by the Scottish Government's Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA homepage). The Examination allowed Scottish Ministers to consider the Proposed East Lothian Local Development Plan and the unresolved representations. 

As of the 8 May 2017, Scottish Ministers appointed Ms Claire Milne BSc(Hons), DipTP, MBA, MRTPI to carry out the Examination of the Proposed East Lothian Local Development Plan 2016 in accordance with Section 19 of the Town and Country Planning Scotland Act 1997 (as amended). Scottish Ministers later appointed three additional Reporters.

The Reporters first examined conformity with the authority’s participation statement as required by Section 19(4) of the Act. This was concluded and the examination under Section 19(3) of the Act commenced on the 8th June 2017.

During the remaining stages of Examination of the Propsoed East Lothian Local Development Plan, the council received and responded to 21 Further Information Requests. No hearing sessions were required by the Reporters. 

On the 14th March 2018, the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) completed their Examination of the Proposed East Lothian Local Development Plan 2016.

The DPEA issued their Report of Examination and Reporter's Recommended Modifications. This was followed by the issuing of Reporter's Corrections to Report of Examination.
