The Scottish Emergency Heating Oil Scheme has been launched. The scheme will be delivered by Advice Direct Scotland and aims to support vulnerable households with the increased cost of oil or LPG for heating. Applications will be open from 1 April 2026.

Eligibility for the scheme will require either a household to be in receipt of a means tested low-income social security benefit or be judged by a discretionary decision to be in financial hardship or at risk of self-rationing. To qualify for payment, a household must have also purchased fuel after 1 April 2026.
