Family Explorer Challenge
The first challenge on the passport is to have fun!
Complete ten activities
We’re asking you to complete 10 activities over the whole summer. One of them has to be read a book but that can be any book – a comic, a fact book, an audiobook as long as it’s a book, it counts! We would prefer it to be a library book so we know that you’ve read it but if it’s not then you will have to prove that you have, so be prepared to tell us all about it.
The other 9 activities could be anything from a visit to a local museum or sports centre, taking part in a library or community centre activity, playing in the park or at the beach or baking a cake or doing some crafts at home. Whatever you do to complete the challenge, collect something to show what you’ve done – whether it’s an entrance ticket or a photo of what you’ve been up to bring it along to your local library.
Certificate and prize draw
Once you’ve completed a challenge bring your passport and the proof of your activities along to your local library and let staff know what you’ve been doing – you’ll get your certificate and a small prize. Everyone completing a challenge goes into a draw for some different prizes at the end of the holidays.
There are lots of activities happening in our libraries!
Or pick up an activities brochure from your local library.
Use your imagination, any activity counts. You might want to try some of the following activities;
- Picnic in the park
- Go for a bike ride
- Do some baking
- Go rock pooling
- Do some gardening
There are lots of activities happening across East Lothian this summer that will also qualify, see more events on our Summer events page.
