COVID-19 and museums

We are reopening our museums during May and June 2021. We will follow all relevant guidance to ensure a safe visit and the following key information for visits will apply. This will be updated if required or if Scottish Government guidance changes:

  • visits can be pre-booked and details of how to do this are on each site's webpage
  • walk up slots to visit are often available, please ask at the museum reception desk
  • our opening hours have changed, please follow the links on this page to each site's webpage
  • please maintain social distancing, follow directional signage, use the hand sanitiser or wash your hands regularly and wear a face covering (unless exempt)
  • do not visit if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of coronavirus
  • we have removed some of the activities and interactives from our museums to protect visitors and staff - and have an enhanced cleaning regime in place
  • we have sneeze screens at desks, hand sanitising stations and one way systems around the museums
  • none of our regular events or activities will resume for the time being
  • payment by credit or debit card is preferred 
  • this information will be updated regularly as guidelines change
