Census information

A census of population in Scotland has been held every 10 years since 1801 (except 1941 during the war) and provides a snapshot of the Scottish population which local authorities, central government, health boards and numerous other groups use to plan services for the public.

The last census in East Lothian for which results are currently available was in 2011. This included information on population and households at (pre-2007) ward level. The 2011 results and background information are available on the Scotland's Census website.
