Tenant evicted following sustained antisocial behaviour
East Lothian Council has evicted an antisocial tenant from Ash Grove, Dunbar following upon an order having been granted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 23 February 2018.
Despite having been made the subject of an Antisocial Behaviour Order on 15 June 2017, the council and Police Scotland continued to receive reports of antisocial behaviour taking place at the home of Chithara Coetzee.
Officers from the Local Area East Housing Team worked alongside members of the Safer Communities Team in collating the evidence that led to the eviction order being granted.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said:
“The Council will take robust action against those tenants who breach their tenancy agreement by behaving antisocially. The ultimate sanction of applying for the repossession of a tenant’s property was considered proportionate in this case in light of the ongoing complaints. It is hoped that this court order will send out a strong message to all council tenants who choose to behave in an antisocial manner”.
