Information about temporary road closures and diversions

In response to a march which is expected to be held in Prestonpans on Saturday, East Lothian Council is arranging for a number of temporary road closures and parking restrictions to be put in place. 

While the event is not organised by or affiliated to the council, we have been working with Police Scotland in order to minimise disruption and assist the community.

The event is due to begin at midday at Mary Murray Park, next to Prestonpans Community Centre.

The march will incorporate the following roads, which will be subject to road closures and some parking restrictions ahead of and for the duration of the event:

  • B1348 High Street/Edinburgh Road – from junction with Appin Drive in an easterly direction to the west side of the access to Whin Park Industrial Estate, Cockenzie – from 10am 
  • East Loan – in its entirety – from midday 
  • Harlawhill – in its entirety – from midday 
  • High Street – from the eastern side of the junction with Harlawhill in a westerly direction to the west side of the junction with Redburn Road – from midday 
  • North Grange Avenue – from the junction with Redburn Road in an easterly junction to the junction with West Loan – from midday 
  • West Loan – from the junction with North Grange Avenue/McLeod Crescent in a southerly direction to the junction with Preston Road – from midday 
  • Preston Road – from the western side of the junction with West Loan in an easterly direction to the junction with Hawthorn Road and Gardiner Road – from midday 
  • Hawthorn Road – from the junction with Preston Road/Gardiner Road in an easterly direction to the junction to the junction with Shaw Road – from midday 
  • Schaw Road – from the junction with Preston Road northwards to the junction with Appin Drive/Longdykes Road – from midday 
  • Appin Drive – in its entirety – from midday
