New Share the Carers are stepping up!
Share the Care East Lothian is delighted to announce that, at the end of the first Share the Care month in the county, the team has managed to attract at least four potential new Share the Carers. Share the Care is East Lothian Council's short breaks service for the families of children with disabilities. The service is run by the Children's Disability Team. It provides essential support to children with disabilities and their families by offering regular breaks in a carer's home, the child's home or the local community. These breaks give children the opportunity to take part in different activities and make new friends and parents the opportunity to spend time with others or to recharge their batteries.
People around East Lothian are now much more aware of how our Share the Carers really do make the everyday possible by letting families do things like watch their other children at football, or just curl up and watch a movie

Share the Care’s Leann Robinson says:
‘We’ve had a brilliant month out and about talking to people about Share the Care – we’ve been on the radio, were part of Musselburgh Communities Day last week and we also had a really successful day at Kidz to Adulz at the Royal Highland Centre a couple of weeks ago. I think we’ve really managed to raise the profile of Share the Care. People around East Lothian are now much more aware of how our Share the Carers really do make the everyday possible by letting families do things like watch their other children at football, or just curl up and watch a movie.
‘It’s grand that we’ve got four great new candidates and I am hoping that still more people will come forward. Ideally, we need at least ten new Share the Carers. I know we’ve got lots of people thinking about it now and we just need them to take that last little step. Our Share the Care Team is always here for a chat, so give us a ring on 01875 824 309 – we’ll be happy to answer all your questions.’
