Residents previously eligible for concessionary, off peak travel on local trains who wish to continue making savings will need a Railcard from 21 May

Railcards are great value if you travel regularly and you can save at least 1/3 on your train travel. There is a wide range to choose from – see link below for more info on how to apply to ScotRail for a Railcard:

Residents aged 60 or over will continue to be entitled to free bus travel.

In November 2017, the council launched a public budget consultation which asked local residents for views on budget proposals in a challenging financial environment.

In February 2018, the council made a number of decisions about ways in which the council will address these challenges. This includes a change which means East Lothian residents who were eligible for concessionary rail travel and wish to continue to making savings will instead need a Railcard.

It means the council is maintaining an appropriate concessionary travel scheme for local residents in a challenging financial climate.
