Drop-in COVID vaccination clinics are continuing in East Lothian this week, with confirmation that there will be pop up clinics in Tranent on Wednesday and in Prestonpans on Thursday.

Anyone over the age of 18, who has not yet had their first dose – for whatever reason – can attend a drop-in clinic without an appointment, while those who are waiting for their second dose can turn up as long as they received their first injection of the COVID-19 vaccine at least eight weeks before.

A mobile drop-in unit is operating today (Monday, 12 July) at the Bleachingfield, Dunbar. It visits Tesco car park in Musselburgh tomorrow (Tuesday, 13 July). The bus is operating from 11am until 7pm each day.

A pop up drop-in clinic will be running in Tranent on Wednesday, 14 July and in Prestonpans on Thursday, 15 July. Details are as follows:

  • Wednesday, 14 July - The George Johnstone Centre - Winton Pl, Tranent EH33 1AA. Open 9.30am-12pm and 12.30pm-3.30pm.
  • Thursday, 15 July - Prestongrange Church Hall, 11 Kirk St, Prestonpans EH32 9DX.  Open 9.30am-12pm and 12.30pm-3.30pm.

Meanwhile, the East Lothian Community Hospital, Alderston Road, Haddington, EH41 3PF, continues to be open for drop-in vaccinations every day, including weekends, from 8.30am-4.30pm. For information on how to get there, follow this link.

Further information about clinics, including availability elsewhere in the Lothians, can be found on the NHS Lothian website.

Local residents are being encouraged to continue getting tested regularly – even if they have no symptoms of the virus. It’s possible to be infected, and passing it on, without showing any of the usual symptoms.

Options for getting tested included visiting the test centre at the former Stoneyhill Community Centre in Musselburgh, visiting a mobile testing unit, collecting from a community pharmacy or ordering online for home delivery. Further information is available on the East Lothian Council website.
