Mary Shelley (12A)

Date: 26th September 2018

Location: The Brunton - Venue 1, Ladywell Way, Musselburgh, EH21 6AA

Time: 19:30

The life of Mary Shelley.

Midweek Movie

Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (Elle Fanning) is a thoughtful young woman with a passion for writing. When she meets radical and charismatic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Booth), she is convinced she has met her soulmate. This striking period film tracks their life together, accompanied by her flirtatious stepsister Claire (Bel Powley), who is herself drawn to the louche Lord Byron (Tom Sturridge). The second feature from Saudi Arabian director Haifaa al-Mansour (who made the acclaimed Wadjda in 2012), Mary Shelley had its UK Premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Broke Lad: McLuckie's Line

Date: 28th September 2018

Location: Theatre

Time: 19:30

A raw, hard hitting and hilarious monologue.

Broke Lad

The play delves into the wounded soul of unemployed actor Lawrence McLuckie as he waits nervously in a claustrophobic hospital corridor expecting a phone call. An offer of work that could change his life forever. The play explores serious subjects but is packed with humour: crazy actors, nosy neighbours, reprobate mates, a Spanish speaking horse and a gun toting Elvis impersonating bookmaker.

Join us for a post-show discussion with actor Martin Docherty, about the themes in the play and the life of a working Scottish actor. Starts 15 minutes after the performance, lasts 20 minutes.
