Dogstar Theatre: The Tailor of Inverness

Date: 18th April 2019

Location: Theatre

Time: 19:30

Written and performed by Matthew Zajac and inspired by the life of his father.

The Tailor of Inverness

The Tailor of Inverness is a story of the impact of war on ordinary people and families, a story of a boy who grew up on a farm in Galicia (Eastern Poland, now Western Ukraine) and became a tailor in Inverness, of how a life and an identity can be reconstructed.
Crossing the borders from Ukraine to Poland; to Russia to Iran; to Egypt to Italy; to Germany to Scotland, this extraordinary production tells the story of the tailor’s life and his son’s discoveries about his father through music, poetry, imagery, storytelling and theatre.

“Matthew Zajac's moving performance is a triumph of evocative staging and storytelling.” The Observer

Modest Proposal

Once upon a time, there was a dragon, who lived on an island in the middle of a wide, blue ocean. When her island comes under threat from pirates, she is forced to drop her precious jewelled egg into the deeps of the sea, entrusting it to the care of her friends, the whales.
A tale for young audiences about growing up, celebrating your differences and finding your place in the world, with imaginative fantastical puppet creatures, projections, music and charming storytelling.
