Location: in the Marquee at Lennoxlove House, Haddington
Time: 19:30
Cost: Tickets £15.50 (£13.50)
A special concert, performed in the marquee, set in the beautiful gardens of Lennoxlove House. Presented in partnership with Haddington Festival at Lennoxlove 2012.
Renowned worldwide as the spine tingling voice of Celtic supergroup Capercaillie, Karen Matheson has increasingly spread her wings as a solo artist, since debuting with her album The Dreaming Sea in 1996. She is currently at work on her fourth solo release.
Karen’s repertoire covers both traditional Scots, contemporary material, and the Gaelic songs she has loved since childhood.
Performing with an all star band including Donald Shaw on keyboards and accordion, and bassist Ewen Vernal, Karen is quite simply one of today’s finest singers in any language.
‘Spellbinding and evocative... she takes folk music to a celestial high’ (New York Times)
‘Would wring tears from stone’ (Penguin Eggs, Canada)
For over 700 years the historic architecture of Lennoxlove House has graced the East Lothian landscape. Its recent refurbishment has brought luxury, comfort and a respectful style, adding to its magnificence. Set in a wooded hollow a mile south of the picturesque village of Haddington, the views over the Lammermuir Hills are impressive.
Tickets also on sale at Haddington Festival Box Office, Haddington Corn Exchange from 21 May, and at the venue 1 hour before the performance, subject to availability.
