What to expect

For families who are just beginning the adoption process, the journey ahead can often feel daunting as there are several steps in the adoption process, but we will help you each step of the way.

  1. You will have an initial enquiry and will be given the opportunity to meet with an adoption-experienced social worker.
  2. We will complete checks and references, these include Disclosure Scotland, health checks, employment history and references, Local Authority check, personal references, checks on previous partners.
  3. Preparation and training.
  4. Home-study - this involves regular meetings with your social worker over a four-six-month period.
