Across East Lothian there is a growing number of defibrillators located in our communities. These are often funded and maintained by local community groups and activists.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest.
A defibrillator tells you exactly what to do, so no training is needed.
If someone is having a cardiac arrest, it simply needs to be switched on and it will talk the person through each step – it’s like having an expert in the room.
For more information on getting, registering, and looking after a defibrillator go to the British Heart Foundation defibrillators page.
