How we compare to other councils
East Lothian Council is committed to continuous improvement in our performance. Part of this process includes being involved in a wide range of benchmarking activities with other relevant organisations and learning how we can improve the performance and the delivery of services.
All 32 Scottish councils have worked with the Improvement Service over a number of years to develop a common approach to benchmarking. The Framework brings together a standard set of performance indicators covering a wide range of key services including education, housing, social work, and leisure, as well as service costs and customer satisfaction results. The National Overview report is made available in February each year to provide insight into Local Authority performance across Scotland.
The LGBF is managed by the Improvement Service, which is the national improvement organisation for local government in Scotland. It is a partnership between the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE).
