Protecting people from harm text box intro

It's everyone's responsibility to support and protect people at risk of harm!

It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that our children and adults living in East Lothian and Midlothian are safe and protected from harm. This includes children and adults in our own families, and in the community.

If you are concerned about a child or adult’s safety or wellbeing, you can contact Social Work, Police or Health Professionals to report your concerns. You will be asked to provide some information about the child, family or adult, and some details about what you saw or heard that worried you.

There are many different kinds of abuse, harm and neglect, and the signs can sometimes be difficult to spot. Individuals and communities can play a big part in keeping children and adults safe. You can help protect children and adults by keeping your eyes and ears open, by being alert to signs that all is not well and by acting on any concerns you might have.

In an emergency situation outside our social work office hours, please call (Freephone)
