A warm welcome to your new website
We’ve made improvements to help you find what you need more easily. If anything doesn’t work as expected, please let us know using the feedback button below.
We can support you if you have left school and need advice to help guide you through your next stage. If you're still in school we can help you gain valuable life skills to help towards employment or a place in college or university.
Steps to Employment is a flexible, bespoke service for people of all ages (16+ years) who without additional support might not make a successful transition into or be able to secure work, further education or training.
Everyone participating will create an individual Learning Action Plan and participate in a programme of tailored learning and activity based on an assessment of their immediate and future skills needs.
The service is tailor-made to fit around your interests and address barriers to learning and progression. Training is in bite sized taster sessions as diverse as music, bushcraft, climbing, aromatherapy and much more. Anyone can refer to this service: schools, families, social work, Skills Development Scotland, etc.
Participants are expected to make steady progress, with a combination of training and 1-to-1 support, so they can sustain their next steps, which could be employment, college, an apprenticeship or a national training programme.
Young people (16-19) are eligible to apply for Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), which is £30 per week if they fit the criteria.
