How to Apply

To apply for any East Lothian Council vacancy, you must first register or log in to your MyJobScotland account.

Support is available on MyJobScotland for:

• Registering a new account
• Logging in
• Resetting your password
• Completing and submitting your application
   

Application Process

East Lothian Council does not accept CVs for any advertised vacancies.

Once you have logged in to your MyJobScotland account, you can save your progress and return to your application at any time.

Some vacancies may include a pre‑screening question. This helps ensure applicants meet the essential job criteria before proceeding with a full application.

Internal Only Vacancies – Who Can Apply

Internal only vacancies are open to:

• Current East Lothian Council employees.
• Casual workers and agency staff who are actively working for the Council at the time the vacancy is advertised.
   

Late Applications

We cannot accept applications submitted after the advertised closing date and time.

The only exception is when MyJobScotland has a verified system‑wide issue that prevents applicants from submitting their form. Issues such as internet connection problems, device faults or personal technical issues cannot be accepted as reasons for submitting an application late.
