These essential improvements by East Lothian Council are scheduled to commence on Monday, 11 May and are expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of road users and site operatives, it will be necessary to close the B6371 to vehicles from its junction with Waterloo Road to its junction with Carlaverock Farm for the duration.
To maintain access for residents who use Scott Glynn Walk, the works will be carried out in two phases.
The first phase from Carlaverock Farm to Scott Glynn Walk will begin on Monday, 11 May and is expected to last one week. The second phase from Scott Glynn Walk to Waterloo Road is scheduled to get under way on Monday, 18 May and also take one week to complete.
Emergency service and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
Refuse and recycling collections will be conducted where feasible. Residents are requested to ensure bins or boxes are presented for collection by 6am on the relevant day.
Essential improvements
For the 113 bus service between C71 Pearlstane Road and the Waterloo Road Junction, buses will divert via C71 Pearlstane Road (Elphinstone Research Centre), B6414, Castle Road and Waterloo Road in both directions.
A council spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience while these essential improvements take place, and we will make every effort to complete this work as swiftly as possible.
“Please be aware the start and finish dates are subject to change due to the weather‑dependent nature of the works.
“Updates on road restrictions will be published on www.tellmescotland.gov.uk which we use to notify the public of roadworks and temporary traffic management arrangements.”
