The shoot for the Silver Arrow will take place at Musselburgh Racecourse, where members of the Royal Company of Archers will compete in this historic and colourful event.
First recorded details of the competition date from 1603, and actually pre-date the formation of the Royal Company of Archers itself.
Since 1676, however, the annual competition has been restricted to members of the Royal Company.
This year’s event is particularly special as it marks 350 years since the Company’s formation.
The archers are expected to arrive at the racecourse at 1.30pm with the shoot following and the presentation of the coveted trophy to take place around 5pm.
Exercising their rights as Freemen of the Burgh, the Royal Company will parade through the town leaving Musselburgh Racecourse at 5.30pm to Brunton Hall via Millhill to Linkfield Road, High Street and Bridge Street to North High Street.
Police Scotland will control traffic throughout the parade.
