Arrangements in East Lothian
The Justice Social Work Service in East Lothian works with a number of partner organisations to prioritise public safety:
MAPPA are a set of statutory partnership working arrangements which places a duty on all responsible authorities to work together to assess and manage the risk posed by people who have committed violent or sexual offences, in a local authority area (MAPPA Guidance). They were introduced in 2007 as part of The Management of Offenders etc. (Scotland) Act 2005. The responsible authorities are:
MAPPA makes sure the management of people who offend is consistent across all council and police force areas. It also sets out how people who offend should be assessed and how the risk posed by some of these people should be managed.
