Journey Hubs

The Wallyford Park and Ride site has the potential to become a hub for sustainable transport journeys within and beyond East Lothian.

Over time we will develop:

• better connections for walking and cycling (see proposals for Wallyford Toll roundabout and Musselburgh Active Toun)
• more opportunities for vehicle charging, particularly buses
• additional facilites such as a covered waiting area, toilets and a kiosk
• bike hire stations
• comprehensive information provision

Investing in a Journey Hub here, by building on the exisiting facilities, could:

• raise the profile of public transport and other options for sustainable travel
• support Demand Responsive Transport by providing a visible network “gateway”
• support people to move away from single car journeys
• increase opportunities for people who don’t drive
