Book Week Scotland Event

At the age of 50, Margaret Halliday set off on her own on a trip India, undeterred by multiple sclerosis and osteoarthritis. The travel diaries she kept evolved into Prana Soup, an Indian Odyssey, which describes her adventures in candid, sometimes hilarious, detail. Good Vibrations, a Story of a Single 60s Mum, recounts her experience of unmarried motherhood in 1960s Scotland. WWOOFing North and South is about her time as a WWOOFer (worldwide opportunities on organic farms) in New Zealand and Scotland. Her first novel, The Belly Dancer,  is a romantic thriller, set in Turkey. Margaret studied horticulture in Glasgow and then environmental science, in which she received a doctorate, from Napier College, Edinburgh. She taught science in Edinburgh, married and had two children.
