What is dementia?

Dementia is a set of symptoms that over time can affect a person’s ability to remember, think, communicate, plan and make decisions. It can also cause sensory impairment and changes in behaviour and personality.

Receiving a diagnosis can be daunting, and its  natural not to know what to do. But, helping someone stay connected and socially active can help them stay well for longer.

Support for carers

Living with dementia isn't just about the person with the diagnosis. Support is available for partners, family members, and friends who provide and support and care.  
 

All carers are entitled to an Adult Carer Support Plan, and carers can access a budget to help them in their caring role.
