East Lothian Council provides social housing which is usually more affordable and secure than renting from private landlord. These pages tell you what you need to do to apply for council housing in East Lothian.
Anyone can apply but will not necessarily be offered council housing. Applicants must be aged 16 or older. Council Housing is allocated based on your circumstances and we prioritise according to your assessed housing needs.

Your application may be suspended for reasons explained on this page. Applicants can decide that they want their application deferred. We are not allowed to exclude you from our housing list.
