Coronavirus has impacted the way that we are providing registration services. Please read our latest update to find out more about these changes.

You need to make an appointment with a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages to register the birth of your baby. You have 21 days to do this.

You can choose to make an appointment to register the birth in our office or you can register the birth over the phone, to avoid travelling. If you choose to register the birth in our office you get the birth certificate at the appointment. If you register the birth over the phone we will post the birth certificate to you at a later date.

Making an appointment

All Births Registrations are by appointment only.

Appointments can be made at the Registrar’s office, John Muir House, Brewery Park, Haddington EH41 3HA
