Some off-street car parks are available in East Lothian's towns and villages, providing a safe and sufficient parking amenity to meet the needs of the local community, local economy, businesses and visitors. These facilities are currently free of charge and are listed below.

Musselburgh

  • Bruntonhall - at Ladywell Way
  • Fisherrow Harbour - between harbour and New Street - access from New Street
  • Gracefield - access from North High Street / exit onto New Street
  • Kerr's Wynd - Access and egress from Millhill
  • Millhill - access from Millhill and Shorthope Street
  • Shorthope Street - access from Millhill and Shorthope Street
  • Newbigging - adjacent to Loretto RC primary School
  • Olivebank Road - opposite Tesco access from Olivebank Road

Tranent

  • The Butts - adjacent to Bridge Street access from Coal Neuk
  • Lindores Drive - north side of road, east side of new library and council offices
  • Winton Place - at junction with Lindores Drive - access from Lindores Drive
  • Loch Road - adjacent to Dewar House, access from Loch Road
  • Loch Centre - adjacent to leisure centre and medical centre access from Loch Road

Haddington

  • Mill Wynd - access from Poldrate
  • Newton Port - adjacent to Newton Port surgery
  • Tesco Long Stay - access from Newton Port via Tesco short stay car park
  • John Muir House - available to the public at nights and weekends accessed from brewery Park and Neilson park Road

Aberlady

  • Aberlady Bay Local Nature Reserve - Coastal Car park

Gifford

  • The Square - access from Main Street

Dunbar

  • Countess Crescent - south side of new community centre
  • Countess Crescent - east side of primary school
  • Lauderdale - access from Bayswell Road
  • Leisure Pool - access from Victoria Street (managed by Enjoy Leisure)
  • Skateraw and Thorntonloch costal beach car parks

North Berwick

Parking charges will come into effect in North Berwick on 1 June 2026. This includes in some of our council-run car park ins in the town.
