Visiting safely

We are delighted that we reopened our museums during May and June 2021. We will follow all relevant guidance to ensure a safe visit and the following key information for visits will apply. This will be updated if required or if Scottish Government guidance changes:

  • visits can be pre-booked, just get in touch using the contact details on each museum's webpage
  • walk up visit slots are often available, please ask
  • our opening hours may have changed please see the links on this page for details of the different museums
  • we ask that all visitors please maintain social distancing, follow directional signage, use the hand sanitiser available or wash your hands regularly and wear a face covering (unless exempt)
  • please do not visit if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of coronavirus
  • please note that we have removed some of the activities and interactives from our museums to protect visitors and staff  
  • we have an enhanced cleaning regime in place and you may see staff cleaning through the day
  • we have sneeze screens at desks, hand sanitising stations and one way systems around the museums
  • none of our regular events or activities will resume for the time being
  • payment by credit or debit card is preferred
