Visiting Safely

We are delighted to be able to welcome you back to the following East Lothian Council Museums during August 2020:

We have put a range of new safety measures in place in line with Scottish Government guidelines:

  • visits need to be pre-booked and details of how to do this are on each site's webpage - see the links on this page for details
  • our opening hours have changed, please visit each page - see the links on this page for details
  • we ask that all visitors please maintain social distancing, follow directional signage, use the hand sanitiser available or wash your hands regularly and wear a face covering (unless exempt)
  • please do not visit if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of coronavirus
  • please note that we have removed some of the activities and interactives from our museums to protect visitors and staff
  • we have an enhanced cleaning regime in place and you may see staff cleaning through the day
  • we have sneeze screens at desks, hand sanitising stations and one way systems around the museums
  • please note that we are not currently able to offer tours or a café and shop at Prestongrange
  • we are not currently able to offer a shop at Dunbar Town House Museum and Gallery or the John Gray Centre Museum
  • none of our regular events or activities will resume for the time being
  • payment by credit or debit card is preferred at John Muir’s Birthplace Museum
  • please note that this information will be updated regularly as guidelines change

Enjoy your visit!
