The Notice of Poll and Statement of Nominees and Statement of Community Councils Formed Without a Contest have been published today, Thursday 25 September.

An election will take place on Thursday 9 October for Dunbar Community Council.

Polling will take place by ballot box at Bleachingfield Centre, Countess Crescent, Dunbar, EH42 1DX between midday and 7 pm.

If you are unable to attend the polling place you may apply for a proxy vote to allow someone to vote on your behalf.  They must be 16 years of age or over and be on the register of local government electors applicable to East Lothian.  Proxy forms are available for collect from Bleachingfield Centre or contact the Elections Office elections@eastlothian.gov.uk  01620 820185.  Forms must be completed and returned by 4pm on Wednesday 8 October 2025.

Community Councils are run on a voluntary basis by local people. They act as a vital link between East Lothian Council and the local area and give residents an opportunity to speak out on local issues of concern. Meetings are usually held once a month.

There are 20 Community Councils in East Lothian:

Cockenzie and Port Seton, Dunbar, Dunpender, East Lammermuir, Garvald and Morham, Gifford, Gullane Area, Haddington and District, Humbie, East and West Saltoun and Bolton, Longniddry, Macmerry and Gladsmuir, Musselburgh and Inveresk, North Berwick, Ormiston, Pencaitland, Prestonpans, Tranent and Elphinstone, Wallyford, West Barns, Whitecraig.

If you are interested in becoming a member of a Community Council you must be age 16 or over.
