Your local library
Joining the library is free, quick and easy. You can use your library card to request, borrow and return books at any East Lothian Library and to access our online resources including eBooks, newspapers and magazines.
You can join the library online or in person at any library.
When you join online you'll have access to our online resources straight away.
If you'd like to borrow physical books then drop in to any of our libraries bringing along one form of identification (driving licence, passport, birth certificate) and proof of your current address (utility bill or bank statement - must be less than 6 months old).
Young people attending an East Lothian secondary school are automatically enrolled as library members when moving to S1.
If you have a National Entitlement Card this can be used as your library card - just take it along to the library with you when joining.
