Your local library
Search, reserve or renew your library items online
Search for materials in East Lothian Library stock in the library catalogue. To use the catalogue you need a PIN number. To get a PIN please contact any East Lothian library.
Reserve and Renew items
Place a reservation and/or renew items you have borrowed by logging into your library account.
Once logged in you will be taken to your dashboard. At the top of the screen there is a search bar for searching for items and from there you can place reservations.
How to log in to your library account
- Enter your Library Membership Number where it asks for Borrower ID
- If you have a Membership Number beginning with B, include the B and the 9 digits
- If you have a 16-digit smartcard number, enter the first 14 digits only - don't enter the last two digits
- Your PIN is the 4 digit PIN provided when you initially joined the Library. If you have forgotten your PIN or Password, click on Forgot your PIN.
Request items not in stock
If you wish to request an item which is not available in any of our libraries, we may be able to buy the item and add it to our stock, or it may be necessary to borrow through the inter library loan system.
You can request adult fiction, adult non-fiction, junior fiction, junior non-fiction, eBooks, eAudiobooks, spoken word CDs and large print items.
To place a request for purchase, please email East Lothian Libraries providing as much information about the item as you are able to.
All requests will be carefully considered by our Librarians however we cannot guarantee that we will be able to purchase all items requested.

Inter library loans
Inter library loans is a service where items can be borrowed from other libraries within the United Kingdom. There is a charge for inter library loans and only adult non-fiction items over one year old, vocal scores and orchestral sets can be requested via inter library loan.
To place an inter library loan request, please email East Lothian Libraries providing as much information about the item as you are able to.
