Road resurfacing works set for Vert Roundabout in Haddington

Carriageway resurfacing works will be carried out at the Vert Roundabout in Haddington.

These essential improvements by East Lothian Council are scheduled to begin on Monday, 25 May and are expected to last for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.

To ensure the safety of both road users and site operatives, it will be necessary to implement temporary closures and traffic management measures on roads approaching and including Vert Roundabout.

No traffic will be permitted on the section of the A1637 Aberlady Road between Davidson Terrace and Vert Roundabout from 25 May until Sunday, 14 June.

The section of the A199 between Vert Roundabout and Goatfield beside the Jet garage will also be closed to traffic between 25 May and Sunday, 7 June.

Traffic will not be permitted on the A1637 section between Vert Roundabout and Phillips Avenue from Monday, 8 June until Friday, 12 June. A199 traffic movements in both directions will be maintained under temporary traffic signals.

Signed diversion routes will be in place for all road closures.

Temporary traffic management

To assist traffic flow on diversion routes associated with the A199 closure, a parking suspension will be in place on the west side of Hardgate for the duration of the works.

Although pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, pedestrians should not enter the works area during working hours for their own safety.

Refuse and recycling collections are expected to operate as normal where possible. Residents are requested to place bins and boxes out by 6am on scheduled collection days.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience while these essential improvements take place, and we will make every effort to complete this work as swiftly as possible.

“Please be aware the start and finish dates are subject to change due to the weather‑dependent nature of the works.

“The works will necessitate changes to some bus routes. We would advise users to check the respective bus company’s website for the most up-to-date information.

“Updates on road restrictions will be published on www.tellmescotland.gov.uk which we use to notify the public of roadworks and temporary traffic management arrangements.”
