Legal action follows number of noise complaints

An Antisocial Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been granted against Vivienne Stewart (39) of Stoneybank Gardens South, Musselburgh following an application to Edinburgh Sheriff Court by East Lothian Council.

The court was presented with details of the alleged antisocial behaviour of Ms Stewart, which included, shouting and swearing, excessive noise and reports of late night disturbances.

The terms of the ASBO prohibit Ms Stewart from behaving in a way that causes, or is likely to cause, alarm or distress to others, which includes playing a radio, TV or other sound producing device at antisocial levels.

The Order also prohibits Ms Stewart from shouting, swearing or using threatening, intimidating, aggressive or abusive language or behaviour within her home address, or towards residents or visitors in Stoneybank Gardens South, Musselburgh.

A council spokesperson said: “East Lothian Council, with the support of Police Scotland, will not hesitate in taking robust action against those whose behaviour causes alarm and distress to others. I would encourage all those affected by antisocial behaviour to contact our Safer Communities Team on 01875 824 307.”
