New electric vehicle charging hubs coming to Dunbar

EV owners visiting or living in Dunbar will be delighted to hear additional new charging hubs are being installed at Lauderdale House and in the Abbeylands car park.

Environment spokesperson, Cllr Norman Hampshire, said: “The new chargers are in response to requests from local residents who don’t have a driveway but require somewhere to charge an electric vehicle. Each charging hub will have spaces for 4 EVs who will be able to park for up to 4 hours at a time. The Lauderdale House hub will also include a Rapid charger which will provide a charge of around 100 in the battery in less than 30 minutes.”

The existing EV charger at Spott Road will be removed to allow construction access for the new bear sculpture being erected in the town but as part of their new extension, Asda Dunbar will be installing additional chargepoints which will be available for the use of customers.

The new town centre charging hubs are part of East Lothian’s ongoing programme to install chargepoints around the county in response to local demand.
