Primary 1 enrolment for academic session 2020-2021 is now open.

Families with children whose fifth birthday falls between 1 March 2020 and last day of February 2021 can now register their child for primary one for the academic year starting August 2020.

East Lothian Council has 34 primary schools in towns and villages across the county. Enrolment within a catchment school should be undertaken before 15 November 2019. Please check with your catchment school to confirm the days when enrolment will take place. Parents and carers should remember to take the child’s birth certificate, their most recent Council Tax Assessment letter, and a utility bill dated within the last six months. For children being enrolled at a Roman Catholic school, proof of Catholic baptism should also be provided (if applicable).

Although most children will attend their catchment school, under the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 parents can request that their child attends a different school. This is known as a non-catchment placing request. Non-catchment placing requests should be made by 24 December 2019. Any requests placed after this date will be considered but an early application is advisable.

Questions or requests for information on particular schools should be directed to the individual school’s office.

An information booklet with full information on enrolment and non-catchment placing requests is available to download.
