Following on from a successful event in 2019, East Lothian Council is holding a second careers and job fair at Queen Margaret University.

The event, which will focus on opportunities available in Early Learning and Childcare is being held on Saturday 7 March from 10am-2pm.

The expansion of funded early learning and childcare for all 3 and 4 year olds, and eligible 2 year olds, from August 2020 (1140hours) is driving recruitment in the sector. This is not only for roles working directly with children as practitioners, managers or childminders but also support services such as catering.

Opportunities are available now for school leavers and men and women of all ages, including those considering a career change, returning to work after a break, or who have previous experience in the sector.

There will be a variety of local professionals, employers and training agencies to answer questions, give advice, guidance, and information in a friendly and supportive environment. Jobs will also be advertised on the day.

An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: “The feedback from our 2019 careers and jobs event was universally positive from both attendees and exhibitors. We’re delighted that so many of our partners are supporting this drive and look forward to welcoming people to find out more about this rewarding sector. Early Learning and Childcare is a growing area with a range of fulfilling roles that make a real difference to children and their families. Our event has a wide range of options available that we hope will guide and inspire people to find the best career route into the sector for them.”

Children are welcome to attend.
