We're seeking local residents' and businesses' experiences of covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting all of us - how we live, work, rest and play. East Lothian Museums, Archives and Local History want to record this strange time in the county’s history.

Collections of objects, photographs, documents and recorded memories are at the heart of what the team do as heritage professionals in East Lothian. They preserve your history for the future. As a Heritage team comprising Archivists, Local History and Museums staff they collect, curate and look after such items in perpetuity.

We are living through an unprecedented time and although we are all going through it, our individual experiences are unique.

The ‘Collecting COVID East Lothian’ project will assist the team to understand and record the human dimension of the COVID-19 tragedy and keep a record of this extraordinary period to enable future generations to learn about and understand our pandemic experience.

We want to collect and preserve your experiences, images and objects that reflect this pandemic in East Lothian and how it has and still is affecting you, whether good or bad.

Although we cannot collect anything physically at present due to quarantine, we would love to hear from you if you have items that you would like to gift to the services post lockdown.

If you think you have something you wish to gift to strengthen our collections, email us in the first instance to jgc@eastlothian.gov.uk, with Covid-19 Collection in the subject line, and someone from the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
