BEAR Scotland introduces traffic management measures in Humbie following closure of part of A68.

The A68 has been closed at Fala Dam since 12 August due to storm-related slippage. BEAR Scotland, which manages the A68 trunk road on behalf of Transport Scotland, has installed additional traffic management measures to deal with increased traffic on surrounding East Lothian roads.

This includes a priority system within Humbie village, temporary traffic signals at Keith Bridge and additional signage advising of potential delays on B6371.

Additional road narrow signage is also due to be installed in the coming days. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these temporary measures and consider additional actions where appropriate.

Official diversion

The main diversion route is via the A7. Northbound traffic is being diverted via A6091 at Melrose to pick up at the A7 at Galashiels. Southbound traffic diverted via A720 to A7 at Sheriffhall. All drivers are asked to use the official route.

Haulage

Information on the official diversion route has been shared with haulage companies.
