East Lothian Council area remains in Level 3

Following today's announcement that East Lothian Council area remains in Covid-19 protection Level 3, Depute Council Leader, Norman Hampshire, says:  “East Lothian currently has the lowest infection rate in the Lothians and it is disappointing that we remain in Level 3 and the difficulties the restrictions are having on some of our local businesses and communities. We will continue to work within these restrictions and advise our communities that they should not travel outwith the county unless for essential journeys including for work, childcare or healthcare."

"I would like to thank our local communities for their patience during this difficult time and to continue to observe FACTS, including wearing face coverings where recommended, avoiding crowded areas, washing hands regularly, keeping physical distancing and self-isolating if you develop symptoms such as the loss of taste and smell and a new persistent cough. The news yesterday of the development of a possible Covid-19 vaccine being available shortly should not mean we drop our guard but must continue to follow precautions to reduce East Lothian’s infection rate even further. We will continue to meet with Scottish Government Ministers and Public Health Officers to make the case for a reduction in the current restrictions to bring them in line with East Lothian’s infection level."
