East Lothian Council is looking to recruit four new Heads of Service.

As a provider of essential public services in one of Scotland’s fastest growing areas, the Council is seeking Heads of Service with the talent, vision and capacity to think and act strategically, whilst engaging with our communities and partners, to deliver the very best for our county.

The roles are:

  • Head of Education
  • Head of Corporate Support
  • Head of Housing
  • Head of Development

We serve one of Scotland’s most beautiful areas – with thriving towns and villages, enterprising businesses and award-winning attractions. We want to make the county an even better place in which to live, work and invest, continue building on improvements to services and achieve a more prosperous, safe and sustainable East Lothian. With a rising population we must focus on giving our children the best possible start in life, create opportunities for our young people, develop skills to enhance the local economy and employability and enhance our infrastructure.

We are determined to tackle poverty, inequality and address the challenges of climate change. We do so against the backdrop of a very challenging financial environment for local government – underlining the need for strong leadership through continued innovation such as embracing digital technology and doing things differently.

Our new Heads of Service will be key players supporting Elected Members and working with colleagues across the organisation, as part of the Council Management Team, to help build on our strong strategic focus, maintain the pace of transformation and continue delivering high-quality and efficient services. The successful candidates will personify and embed our Council Values:

  • Enabling
  • Leading
  • Caring
